Additional Information
Many malignancies spread through the blood stream and by invading surrounding tissues. Viruses that can be spread by blood and tissues can also cause some malignancies. For these reasons it is considered safer not to accept a donation from people who have had a malignancy.

Because Basal Cell Carcinomas do not spread through the blood, people who have had them successfully treated may donate.

Cervical Carcinoma in Situ, by definition, has not spread outside of the cervix. Women who have successfully completed treatment for this may donate.
Update Information
This is a requirement of the EU Tissue & Cells Directive.
